Paving the Way for Eco-Friendly Solutions

Reed as a Resource

Building a Sustainable Future Through Environmental Action

Reed beds provide essential habitats, shelter, and spawning grounds for many species, trap sediment, and absorb nutrients. However, when reed growth becomes too dense, its negative impact on biodiversity and water quality often outweighs its benefits. Properly managed reed harvesting is a powerful environmental action that helps curb waterway eutrophication and enhances biodiversity.

Our mission is to shift the perception and application of reed. Often considered a problem, we see reed as a valuable, renewable resource that can be transformed into building materials, bioenergy, and fertilizers. Could reed even replace peat? We’re committed to finding out.

The challenges are significant, but we believe in tackling them head-on. Our work will be rewarded with new products and initiatives that support both nature and climate resilience.

Our Core Principles

1. Nature

Environmental well-being is at the heart of our mission. We actively work to improve water quality and biodiversity through sustainable reed harvesting. For us, the responsible use of natural resources and the protection of ecosystems is not a choice—it’s a necessity.

2. Sustainable Development

Bold innovation drives us and our Finnish and international partners to find better ways to utilize natural resources. We refine common reed into products that address both ecological and economic challenges.

3. Commitment

Our work is rooted in long-term thinking and responsibility. We aim to lay the foundation for a cleaner, thriving future for the environment, business, and society alike.
